Six Hours of Sleep!
Last night Malachi slept for six hours straight! Boy, was I full and ready to feed my son when he woke up! Unfortunately, I was not able to join him on his endeavor of sleeping. I was eating dinner and cleaning for the first hour and a half. I did finally cash in on his endeavor and got 4 and a half hours without being awakened. I plan on going to bed earlier this evening! He is sleeping so much better! I don't know if he will sleep through the night any time soon, but I have enjoyed getting sleep in three hour chunks. It's not bad when he only feeds for about 15 minutes and goes back to sleep. I can get 8 hours of sleep in a 9 hour block of time! It's nice.

He's Growing!
On Friday Malachi went to the doctor for his 1 month check up. He weighed in at 10 lbs. 8 oz. He is about 22 in. long! He is growing and changing so fast! It is so amazing! I look at him, and he just melts my heart. I can't believe how fast our little man is growing!

New Job for Mommy
Yesterday was the first day of my new job. I am already extremely tired. It's going to be hard to live off of 5-6 hours of interrupted sleep a night, but I will survive. I probably won't post stuff that often due to my busy schedule, but I will try. I am returning to work only 4 and a half weeks after birth. I would have liked to have had at least 6 weeks, but we need the money, and I need to get my classroom ready. I will be teaching 7th grade English. I am excited but tired and a little overwhelmed. God will keep me sane. Please pray Malachi starts to sleep in longer shifts to relieve me and allow me to rest. I know it's early. It will happen in God's time, and I will be fine. I am always fine. God takes good care of His children.

Cuddling like a big boy
Malachi is pictured at a little over four weeks. He was holding onto his Daddy just like he was a big boy. It was so cute! But of coarse he's cute, he's our son!
Our Second Family Picture
We are one big happy family! I won't post our first official family picture. No woman ever wants her picture to be displayed right after the birth of a child. I definitely did not look fresh and beautiful. Malachi is 3 and a half weeks old.

Sleeping
Malachi's favorite sleeping position is "arms up." I guess it helps him to breathe better!?! Or he could be practicing praising the Lord! He is about 3 weeks old in this picture.

A Big Cousin
We found out last week from our niece Callie that she is going to be a big sister! That means that Malachi will be a big cousin. He will be 6-7 months old when Callie's little brother or sister arrives. Malachi is so enthused to know that he will have a little cousin to play with when he gets bigger. He is so excited he can hardly contain himself! Congratulations to Josh and Erin on expecting a new bundle of joy. Children are such a blessing from the Lord!
Getting Bigger and Stronger
Everyday is a new adventure here at the Honeycutt house. I just love watching my son grow (most of the time). The first two weeks of his life were very difficult for me. He was having problems "latching on," and I was so sore and uncomfortable. Plus my emotions and hormones were going on a rollercoaster ride trying to adjust from pregnancy to motherhood. There were the few first sleepless nights. There were a few times that I threw Malachi at Daniel and told him to give him formula. It is all beginning to get better. Malachi is still feeding a lot. He usually can't go for more than 2 hours without throwing a fit to tell me he is hungry. The only time that he really cries, though, is when he is hungry. If he sleeps for 2-3 hours, he wakes up and is famished. There is no time for him to smack his lips and look longingly at me. No, he just wails at the top of his lungs. I can't complain, though. He really is a good baby. He rarely cries without a reason. He is eating better and beginning to sleep a little better. The past two nights he has slept in his bassinet. That gives me a nice reprieve from my son. He will still wake up every 1-3 hours to eat, but at least I get some alone time in the bed (well, alone time still includes Daniel sleeping in the bed). Right now he is laying on his kick and crawl aquarium making cute noises. He has moved about a foot from the spot that I mput him in. He is getting good at scooting his body around. Ok, enough for now. I'll get more updates up later. Much love to all!
